Western Med-Liberty of The Seas 10/13/2011

A group of 20 friends and acquaintances started our Med Adventure by assembling at Groomes Transportation in East Ridge,  Tennessee.  We caught an early van to Atlanta. The check-in was flawless and we received coupons for free drinks onboard. We met our daughter in The Delta Sky Lounge for wine and snacks, as we awaited our evening flight to Barcelona.

To  our surprise, we had been upgraded from Comfort Class to First Class!  Bring on the drinks, the pillows, blankets, movies.  The dinner was delicious and the wine was great, as well. After a few stomach pains, I eventually got a few hours of sleep.

Immigrations took a minute, but we were soon in to our pre-arranged bus to the Hilton Diagonal Mar Hotel.  We checked in to our spacious room, showered and we are off to hail a cab to The Crazy Crab
Restaurant.  The food was great, but the Paella was only fair.  Fourteen of us had lunch and enjoyed the most beautiful view of The Mediterranean Sea.  Did I mention that the water was the best that we had before?  Our tab for the wonderful lunch for 14 was 409 euros.  Twenty-Seven euros was for the wonderful water.  This was definitely a tourist trap, but the service and view was worth the expense.

We finished the night off with Tapas and Drinks in the Concierge Lounge.  Most of the patrons were waiting to board Liberty of The Seas or Epic. It was definitely worth the upgrade. We selected this hotel because it was a US hotel and was away from Las Rambles.  This hotel was near a shopping center and public transportation.  The hotel worked with us prior to our arrival to help us arrange and prepare for our adventure.  I would definitely recommend this hotel if you arrive the day prior to your cruise.  The food is a little pricey, but there's a lot of choices across the street at the Mall.  We took a taxi to the Me Hotel for drinks, music, and food.  It was more upbeat and definitely for the fun crowd.

Your Economic Stimulus Package Should Include a Cruise

I will retire soon from teaching and will continue to work in the travel industry. My savings and investment goals have not been achieved; nevertheless, I need a cruise! A cruise allows me to escape the telephone, the kitchen, and I am pampered from the time that I board the ship, until debarkation.

There's some great deals out there and some exiting new itineraries and ships being introduced soon. Join me for a Western Caribbean Cruise, October 17th with ports in Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel. Visit the Mayan Ruins or enjoy the beaches and water sports at each port.
